In the GC-MS systems available in our center, qualitative and quantitative analyses of molecules that can pass into the gas phase at column temperature can be performed. The components present in the analyzed sample are separated by gas chromatography and then ionized by the electron ionization (EI) method and identified using a mass spectrometer (MS).

Gas Chromatography

According to the working principle of gas chromatography (GC), the sample is vaporized and injected into the chromatographic column, and it is transported by the mobile gas phase. In GC, analyses of volatile samples or samples that can be made volatile can be performed. Not only gases, but also all liquid and solid substances that can turn into gas at low temperatures can be analyzed.

Application Areas

  • Pharmaceutical analysis,
  • Quality control raw material analysis,
  • Analysis of essential oils (rose oil, thyme oil, etc.)
  • Air pollution analyses,
  • Determination of composition and quantity of essential oils
  • Detection of organic solvent residues

Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS)

According to the working principle of GC-MS, after the substances in the mixture are separated in the gas chromatography section of the device, they are analyzed in the mass spectrometry section based on their masses.
